You never know when you might find yourself in a situation where you are required to save someone’s life. But being called upon to put your first aid skills into practice is far more common than you might think. This teacher was helped by other members of staff who were able to respond in a quick, safe and effective manner. Their prompt actions got her heart restarted and she is since recovering. What a great outcome!
Effective CPR and defibrillation is the only definitive treatment for a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. Given that the victim’s chance of survival decreases by approximately 10% for each minute that passes by without bystander CPR until defibrillation.
